Stoner won his World Championships in 2007 and 2011 for the factory Ducati and Honda outfits respectively.

He walked away from motorcycle racing at the completion of 2012 and has turned his hand to four wheels with Pirtek backing in the V8 Supercars Dunlop Development Series, driving for Triple 8 Race Engineering.

As a youngster, the product from Kurri Kurri in the Hunter Valley was a prolific winner of Championship events with 41 Australian dirt and long track titles and 70 State Championships.

The ‘AM’ – which Stoner adds to his name sits alongside his Young Australian of the Year award which he was presented in 2008 following his first MotoGP World Championship.

Nick Percat takes the win in Rennsport race one

Sharing his Pirtek-backed Coates Hire Porsche GT3 Cup Car (Type 997) with Rodney Jane at Sydney Motorsport Park, they took a thrilling win in the opening 60 minute race, Percat storming to the front.

In the second race, the pair finished eighth overall, however that was enough to ensure they were awarded the third placing for the event in the outright Championship category, whilst Jane was awarded second placing of the ‘Elite’ (non-professional) drivers. Significantly, it coincided with Jane’s 150th Porsche Carrera Cup race start.

“The team worked brilliantly and all credit to them for giving us such a good car,” said Percat.

“It was a great to win the first-ever Porsche Carrera Cup mini-enduro with Rod. He did a great job all day and it was a fantastic way for him to celebrate his 150th start.

“We tried a different tyre strategy in the second race and it just didn’t work out as we hoped. But I am pleased to finish third for the round and close the gap to (Championship leader) Craig Baird.

“It couldn’t have been a better start to our extended relationship with Pirtek.”

The third round of the Championship partnered with a first time event to Australia – Rennsport – promoted by Porsche Australia, it was a celebration of all things Porsche and only Porsches were on track throughout the weekend.

The next round of the Porsche Carrera Cup Australia Championship will be on the streets of Townsville in early July.

Nick Percat has welcomed Pirtek to his Porsche Carrera Cup campaign

Pirtek has been synonymous with Australian motorsport over many years and this year celebrated the 10th anniversary of Marcos Ambrose’s first V8 Supercar Championship, in the Pirtek Falcon. Recently, dual MotoGP champion Casey Stoner made his four-wheeled motorsport debut in the Dunlop Series for V8 Supercars, with the support of Pirtek.

Percat – who won the Bathurst 1000 on debut in 2011 – will debut the familiar Pirtek livery at round three of the Porsche Carrera Cup, at Sydney Motorsport Park this weekend. Dunlop V8 Supercars Series competitor Rodney Jane will join the team for the pair of 60-minute, two driver races at this Championship round.

This round of the Carrera Cup Championship is the headline act at the Porsche Rennsport Australia Motor Racing Festival, an exclusive all-Porsche event that includes a Concours d’Elegance and Show ‘n’ Shine.

Former Bathurst winner, Percat is enjoying a successful rookie season in the prestigious Championship, capturing pole position for the first two rounds, finishing second three times, third twice and a DNF after the first six races, placing him third overall in points.

For Jane, it’s a return to familiar territory having raced in the Porsche Carrera Cup for several seasons before moving onto V8 Supercars.

Team BRM held a successful test day last week at a cold and wet Phillip Island with both Percat and Jane posting very competitive times.

“We haven’t had to change anything in the car, as our driving positions are identical. I am really happy to have Rod on board and very confident we will have a good showing. We’ve had a fast car all year and been on pole by pretty big margins in the first two rounds, so we definitely have good car speed.

“We had a really good test day at Mallala recently and did some race simulations which went really well, so I am pretty confident heading to Sydney Motorsport Park and the rest of the year, at all the tracks I enjoy racing on.”

Percat welcomed Pirtek aboard his campaign.

PIRTEK Fluid Systems Pty Ltd has promoted Group General Manager Stephen Dutton to the role of Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 May 2013.

Dutton replaces Glenn Duncan in the role, who remains a board member of the privately-owned Australian family company. Dutton joined Pirtek in June 1994 as Area Sales Manager in Brisbane and quickly established himself within the Pirtek system, experiencing the highs and lows of the industry.

In November 1997 Dutton accepted the position of Queensland State Manager and three years later moved to Sydney to become National Sales Manager.

During the next four years Dutton developed a solid sales team, which accepted the immediate challenge of terrific sales growth and he was rewarded with a Directorship and the position of General Manager, Pirtek Fluid Systems Pty Ltd.

Further responsibilities were added when he became Group General Manager in 2010.

“I am delighted to accept the position of CEO of Pirtek and looking forward to leading the company in its next exciting phase,” said Dutton.

Thousands of anglers have already signed-up to compete in the nationwide event this Sunday, March 24, which raises money for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.
With less than 24 hours left to nominate for the event, the Pirtek/Red Bull Holden V8 Supercar driver is keen to remind everyone to get on board.

“It’s been a busy start to the year with the opening round of the Dunlop Series and Red Bull commitments at the Top Gear show and the AGP, but I’m keen to see as much money raised as possible for the Prostate Cancer Foundation through Pirtek Fishing Challenge this Sunday,” said Stoner.

“I moved close to the water with the idea of going fishing on a regular basis. I enjoy the sport and the Pirtek Fishing Challenge provides a unique event for all anglers while raising money for a great cause at the same time.

“It’s brilliant that anyone can compete and it only costs $20 to enter, so it is an affordable and fun day out, especially if you can do it with some good mates or family.”

Competitors will be fishing for more than $145,000 in cash prizes, with a major prize of $4,000 per state, along with over 120 gift vouchers and spot prizes – including a ‘mystery length’ $2,000 prize awarded to the fisherman that nabs a fish closest to the length prescribed by Pirtek.

On the water prizes, including Evinrude, Lowrance, Ocean Kayak Prowlers, Berkley, Roman and BCF products, will be given away also.

As his former two-wheeled counterparts contemplate the 2013 MotoGP season without the 27-year-old, Stoner has all but finalised preparations ahead of his first ever race on four wheels.

He will compete in the Dunlop Development Series and get his first taste of the unforgiving Victoria Park street circuit in opening practice on Thursday.

Stoner unveiled his Red Bull Pirtek Holden in Adelaide alongside team owner Roland Dane, his ride the very same VE Commodore that took Craig Lowndes and Mark Skaife to Bathurst 1000 victory in 2010.

The official livery reveal marks a momentous occasion in V8 Supercars history, Stoner the first international motorcycling star to make the transition to the V8 series since 1987 MotoGP champion Wayne Gardner almost 21 years ago to the day. It also marks the return to the category of Pirtek, a brand with a championship-winning history in the sport.

“I can’t wait,” said Stoner.

“It’s exciting to finally get the chance to be at a race weekend after so much time thinking about it. I think it’s going to be fantastic and I’m very much looking forward to it. Everything’s gone pretty smoothly so far but until we’re on the track there’s only so much we can do. But the team has been great and helped me out in absolutely every way possible and I’m very excited.”

Not only will Stoner be attempting to steer some 1.3tonnes of metal around a race track, but he’ll be doing so inside the tight confines of a cement-barriered street circuit that’s unforgiving at the best of times.

“It’s a little nerve-racking,” Stoner said.“It’s something very alien to me racing a car let lone with walls each side of me and not something I’m completely natural with yet, but I do want to go out and enjoy it.”

His only knowledge of the circuit is what he’s learned on the computerized simulator at Triple Eight Race Engineering’s headquarters in Brisbane. In fact, the only competition circuit Stoner has driven his No.27 Holden on is Queensland Raceway – a purpose-built race track that’s a far cry from the streets of Adelaide.

“I have a fair idea of what’s involved, but unfortunately nothing can really replicate what I’ll have to do when I get out there,” Stoner said.

“Craig (Lowndes) and Jamie (Whincup) have been fantastic and give bits of advice where they can, but until you’re out there it’s very hard to replicate that. So, I’ve done all I can. “

Internationally renowned for his brutal honesty with press, Stoner didn’t pull any punches when asked of his expectations for the weekend.

“I have no idea where we’re going to be running,” he said. “I first and foremost want to enjoy it, but, you know, I’m a competitive driver, I’ll still come out and we’ll see where our results end up. But at this point we have no real goals set, just to try and learn as much as we can, pick up what we can and see where we end up at the end of a weekend.

“I’m not expecting too much too early. But the racing looks like a heck of a lot of fun, so I’m looking forward to getting out there.”

Having spent his entire childhood on motorbikes, Stoner was a relative veteran when he entered MotoGP in 2006.

And as he prepares to get behind the wheel of his 640horsepower Holden, the 2011 MotoGp champion – whose previous four-wheel experience was limited strictly to roads and highways in his Holden SS Sportwagon – admits to feeling more trepidation than he did than making the transition from 250GPs to the top category.

“It’s very different,” Stoner said.“Back then I’d been racing bikes my whole life, and of course I was a little bit nervous. When you step up the different classes, because it’s all generally the same on two wheels, it’s not a big thing, but for me moving from two wheels to four wheels is something I’ve never done before. I’ll be a little more nervous, for sure, than I was going into MotoGP. But I’m also very excited.”

And Stoner is equally as excited to be making his V8 Supercars debut in a Holden.

“I’ve been watching Holden race in V8 Supercars for years now and to be able to drive one this year with Triple Eight, Red Bull and Pirtek is a fantastic opportunity,” Stoner said. “The transition from two wheels to four has been made a whole lot smoother by all the support I’ve had from Holden. Holdens are kind of a part of Australian culture, so to be able to race one, it’s a dream.”

Stoner will make his Dunlop Series race debut at 5.45pm (Adelaide) on Friday, March 1.

Pirtek will be co-sponsor of the Red Bull Pirtek Commodore of two-time world MotoGP champion Casey Stoner.

Stoner, who retired from MotoGP racing at the end of last year, will drive a car entered by Triple Eight Race Engineering in the Dunlop V8 Series – the development category for the V8 Supercar championship.

The team and livery will be unveiled on Wednesday February 27 in Adelaide, just two days before Stoner makes his debut in the seven-round championship.

Pirtek has a long and successful partnership with Australian and New Zealand sporting teams, with their association with Marcos Ambrose and his 2003 and 2004 V8 Supercar championships two of the standouts, according to Pirtek Group General Manager, Stephen Dutton.

“We have always been keen to play a role in the development of young talent, whether that is in the general community or on the race track, football field, golf course or athletics track,” said Dutton.

“Although Casey is a two-time world champion, he comes into this series as a rookie and we are excited to be a part of his entry into V8 Supercars with a successful team like Triple Eight and a co-sponsor with the profile of Red Bull.

“We enjoyed some tremendous success through our years with Stone Brothers Racing and it is great to be back in the sport with such a program.

Triple Eight Race Engineering boss Roland Dane welcomed Pirtek into his organisation which has been the most successful outfit in the modern era of V8 Supercar racing.

“It has always been important for Triple Eight Race Engineering to have partnerships with strong brands and good people and we get both those things with Pirtek in this program,” said Dane.

“Obviously Pirtek had some great years with SBR and Marcos and what was achieved during that era still resonates with the fans.

“Like Marcos, Casey is the ultimate professional and I think everyone involved is looking forward to being a part of his transition from two to four wheels.”

This will not be the first time that Pirtek have been associated with a World Champion.

Pirtek were the sponsors of the New Zealand national Rugby League team when they won the World Cup in 2008 and are personal sponsors of former female discus world champion Dani Samuels.

They have also been the naming rights sponsors of the Parramatta Eels in the National Rugby League competition since 2005 resulting in a grand final appearance in 2009.
