PIRTEK Fishing Challenge

The 2025 Pirtek Fishing Challenge, in its 17th successive year, took place earlier this year on Saturday 26th of April 2025, and Sunday 27th of April 2025.
Hosting Australia’s biggest national fishing competition for everyone is no easy feat, year-on-year. And this year, we continued to proudly support the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and the Peter Duncan Neurosciences Research Unit by offering our biggest prizes ever!
The prizes, this year, included more than $335,000 across our ‘Catch and Release’ competition, our ‘On the Water’ prize draw, and the new ‘My Day Out’ social media competition.
Proceeds raised during the 2025 Pirtek Fishing Challenge proudly support the medical research of the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and the Peter Duncan Neurosciences Unit.
In Australia, prostate cancer remains the most frequently diagnosed cancer among men. In 2022, there were over 24,000 new cases were identified, making up nearly a quarter of all male cancer diagnoses. Sadly, this led to 3,568 deaths, representing approximately 12% of all cancer-related fatalities among Australian men.
The Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia serves as the nation’s leading organisation dedicated to tackling the impact of prostate cancer on men, their partners, and families. The foundation plays a vital role in raising awareness, supporting research, and acknowledging the diversity of the Australian community.
Meanwhile, the Peter Duncan Neurosciences Research Unit at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney has earned recognition as Australia’s top neuroscience research facility. The Unit focuses on studying adult stem cells and their influence on neurological diseases, with the goal of developing advanced neuroscience techniques to aid patients suffering from conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, Alzheimer’s Disease, neurological infections, and stroke.
Funds raised through the Pirtek Fishing Challenge will be distributed between these two well-regarded and important medical research organisations, helping drive innovation and support vital health initiatives.
