2020 PIRTEK Fishing Challenge Recap

PIRTEK’s 12th annual Pirtek Fishing Challenge wrapped up this past March, with a massive 7,559 competitors joining in on the big day across our national shores, rivers and estuaries.

The world’s biggest single-day fishing event saw anglers all over Australia participate in a great catch-and-release fishing day for families and friends alike. The participants were also taking part to help raise awareness and funds to assist with research for the Peter Duncan Neurosciences Unit and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.

The competition involved anglers taking a photo of their best fish caught, laying it across the brag mat and uploading it for judging to determine the longest lengths, as well as lengths closest to the mystery lengths, across different target species. Entrants were able to compete for a share of the huge prize pool worth over $210,000 in cash and prizes.

Senior and Junior entrants also received a limited-edition cap, brag mat and sticker. This year, Junior competitors also received a packet of Berkley Powerbait Nemesis 3 inch, valued at $9.95 RRP.

• First place – $1500 in prizes
• Second place - $750 in prizes
• Third place – $545 in prizes
• Junior first place - $400 in prizes

As well as the main prize draw, 2020 continued the tradition of the On the Water prizes, which all competitors were automatically included in the prize draw. The prize draw was valued at over $46,000.
